Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D. C.

This beautiful view of the Lincoln Memorial was a product of careful framing and good fortune.  I chose this view with bushes in the foreground to show the monument itself and not the tourists or traffic.  It was a perfect day with clouds against a blue sky, and I waited for the airliner to reach this spot.  The plane could easily be erased, but it adds an interesting detail.  The picture required adjustments to fix blemishes and correct color and contrast, the digital equivalent of darkroom techniques, but it didn't seem to lend itself to any further embellishment by art filters.
